King County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home invasion robbery early this morning in Covington. Just after 1:00am a 911 call was received from a cell phone. The call receiver could hear someone in the background yelling “where’s the safe.”
Deputies were dispatched to the call as a possible robbery in progress. Multiple deputies responded to the address in the 25700 block of 160th Pl SE. As deputies arrived they saw a vehicle parked down the street from the residence with the lights on.
As deputies were approaching the house on foot three suspects ran from the scene in different directions. One of the suspects was carrying a rifle which he dropped while jumping a fence. The rifle was recovered by deputies along with stolen items from the residence.
During the foot chase one of the suspects ran to the car that had been parked nearby. A deputy chased him but the suspect was able to get to the car and drive off. The suspect crashed the car nearby and then fled on foot.
When deputies talked with the victims they learned that three suspects kicked in the front door and went directly to the master bedroom. The suspects assaulted the husband and wife by striking them in the head with a rifle and a pistol. The suspects then ransacked the bedroom while demanding to know the location of the “safe” and the “money”.
Both victims received head wounds but were conscious and able to speak with responding deputies and aid personnel. Two children were in the home but were not harmed (approx ages 6 years and 8 years old.) The husband and the wife were taken to Covington Multi-care for their injuries.
K-9 responded and during the search for the suspects located some clothes believed to have been discarded by one of the suspects.
All three of the suspects are still outstanding. The were all described as wearing masks and hooded jackets. One suspect was wearing black, one was wearing red and the third was wearing white.
