Thursday evening, December 1, as the crowd began to gather around the tree at the Maple Valley Town Square visions of raindrops began to appear. As the crowd grew larger, about four times as large as last year, the excitement was in the air. The children were running around as parents tried to stay warm waiting of the Mayor’s address and the countdown.
Then what a wonderful sound did appear Mayor Sean Kelly’s voice was loud and clear and the crowd did the count down as Mark, from the City of Maple Valley, flipped the switch and behold the lights were on and singing was done in the mist.
Carols were sung from Jingle Bells to Let it Snow. As the crowd sang ” Let it Snow’ the snow began falling and the crowd applauded with excitement and cheer then onto Santa Clause is Coming to Town and as we all turned around we all could see Maple Valley Fire Truck with Santa waving and smiling with glee.
Wait, that’s not all before we say goodnight… Businesses were open and giving away treats and now don’t forget the Santa Trains as the kids could not wait to ride and did I say kids, well I guess it depends on the ages as parents, grandparents all went for a ride.
Light poles were decorated and looking mystic.
The evening was magical and the turnout was great!
