November and December 2016 found many families in peril. Holiday time and no money for holiday dinners let alone Christmas gifts. In comes the Black Diamond Community Center’s own army of poverty-fighting helpers. The Black Diamond Eagles, Pythians, Bell Angels, and Fire District 44 Union 3186 adopted families, and provided food, toys, and other holiday items that made Thanksgiving and Christmas special. All these groups also arrange for food delivery, and ask about the family’s favorite food, ham or turkey, food allergies, and how the family will be able to prepare the meal. These wonderful groups get all the details to make the holiday meals a success.
Many families are adopted because groups like the Eagles, Pythians, Bell Angels, and Fire District 44 Union 3186 care enough to take the time to make the holidays better.
