A family of five has been displaced after their home caught fire shortly before 5 am, today, in the 24400 block of 64 Ave. S.
All the residents were able to get out safely, but the double-wide mobile home was a total loss. When firefighters arrived, it was already fully engulfed in flames.
At least one other home was damaged by radiant heat as were several vehicles.
In addition to fighting the fire, the first on-scene crews also had to deal with a neighbor’s dog which had bit a person near the fire. Apparently, the dog was agitated by the activity. That person suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The dog was restrained by Kent Police.
Red Cross is assisting the family and an investigator is on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
